Laurie Stein

Museum Fellow

Laurie SteinLaurie Stein is a 2006 graduate of Oberlin College, with majors in history and English. Born and raised in East Lansing, Michigan, she has a soft spot in her heart for local Midwestern ethics and attitudes, which she sees as exemplified on a historically-significant scale in the history of Oberlin. For that reason, as well as the more practical one of learning more about the applications of her chosen field, Laurie was delighted to work as a Museum Fellow at the Oberlin Heritage Center. She first became involved in the organization in January 2004, when she conducted research on historic sites in Oberlin for the Ohio Historic Inventory as a Winter Term volunteer. She continued to work on the Inventory project, as well as assist at summer camps, give tours, and help out at the Heritage Center however she could.

While not at work here, Laurie enjoyed reading, watching sports, and playing soccer. She volunteered as an assistant coach for the Oberlin College women's soccer program, her former team. Laurie left the Oberlin Heritage Center in the summer of 2007 to pursue a graduate degree from Eastern Illinois University in Historical Administration. While studying there, she will also be working in their archives. We wish her the best of luck and many returns!
