Oberlin Heritage Center Staff
Elizabeth Bates
Office Assistant
Elizabeth
Bates lives in Wellington. She has two daughters, both school teachers,
one retired, the youngest teaching in Collinwood in Cleveland. She also has, in her own words, "two handsome grandsons and three beautiful great-grandsons, [who] I love dearly!"
Elizabeth
worked at Gilford Instruments for 11 years. Leaving Gilford in 1981, she
and her husband moved to Port Charlotte, Florida. He passed away in 1996,
but she stayed in Florida. Later, in June of 2000, she moved back to Ohio,
never regretting the move back. She says, "I missed Ohio, a beautiful
state. The Oberlin Heritage Center is a pleasant place to work. I enjoy
my job. I love to read; I belong to the Literary Guild and also use the
library. I enjoy my houseplants, but no longer enjoy cooking or baking!"
