From December 1 to 16, the Oberlin Heritage Center held its eighth annual display, contest, and silent auction of Gingerbread Houses. Every day from noon to 5 p.m., 68 Gingerbread and Graham Cracker houses were on display for guests to view and judge in the Oberlin Heritage Center's Jewett House. Here are pictures of all of the fantastic houses on display this year. If you're curious about how these houses are made, you can see some pictures of the artists at work. If you want to try your own gingerbread house, we have some recipes and hints to get you started.

On December 1 and 9, visitors were enthralled by the Lorain County J.V.S. Culinary Academy Ice Carving Team.

Gingerbread Extravaganza had record attendance this year! Over 1,000 visitors--twice as many as we have ever had before--came to the Jewett House to admire the gingerbread creations. Visitors came from 47 different cities in Ohio, from 13 different states, and from 3 foreign countries. Those visitors filled out 555 ballots, so our vote-counter, Sigrid Boe, had her work cut out for her. The Oberlin Heritage Center owes many thanks to Mrs. Boe for all of her hard work, and to the over 200 volunteers who contributed at total over 500 hours to make it all possible.
