Grant a Wish

Expand the research and education potential of the Oberlin Heritage Center by donating or helping us purchase several special items on our Wish List (see below) or by contributing to our annual fund or becoming a member.  Our greatest need at this time is for financial contributions for general operating support and for the Endowment for History Education.  Contributions in honor or in memory of a loved one or special friend or occasion are welcomed.  If you  would like to help, contact Pat Murphy at (440) 774-1700 or patm@oberlinheritage.org.

Education Programs

  • Help us supply snacks and materials for summer camps and children's activities.
  • Sponsor summer camp and workshop scholarships.
  • Bring back the refreshments that we were formerly able to provide during social time following evening programs. Choose a program to sponsor!
  • Expand our children's programming by purchasing more reproduction McGuffey Readers for the Little Red Schoolhouse. At present we do not have enough copies for an entire Prospect School class. ($10 each x 10 books)
  • Sponsor an award for the regional National History Day competition.  Every year middle and high school students from around the state create history projects, perfomances, and papers and compete in a "history fair."  The Oberlin Heritage Center would like to offer a $100 prize for one regional project and a $100 award for one state-wide project each year that address themes related to Oberlin and Lorain County history.

Annual Report

  • Contributions towards the printing and mailing costs for our next Annual Report ($1900) are always appreciated.

  • Funds for the purchase of books and resource materials on family history and historic preservation. We will recognize your gift with a bookplate.
  • Funds to purchase a second copy of the FileMaker Pro computer program to help manage our online databases. ($300)
  • Help us reach more audiences by donating or sharing digital audio and video equipment, and programs to create podcasts. Volunteers experienced in doing this also welcomed. (Marantz digital recorder - $500; Movie Studio program $50-$120)
