Awards Granted by the Oberlin Heritage Center:

The Oberlin Heritage Center’s Community Awards are presented at the Annual Meeting.  The Community Awards Program celebrates and recognizes individuals, organizations and businesses whose outstanding accomplishments in serving the community are in keeping with our mission: to preserve and share Oberlin’s unique heritage and to make our community a better place to live, learn, work and visit.  For more information and a list of past recipients, see the most recent Community Awards nomination flyer and past Annual Reports

Recent Awards & Accomplishments Granted to the Oberlin Heritage Center:

2011

  • Historical Outreach Excellence Award from the Ohio Local History Alliance (OLHA) for the Oberlin Heritage Center's Summer Camps for Kids programs
  • Standards of Excellence Certification from the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO)

2010

  • Individual  Achievement Award to Past Board President, James W. White from the Ohio Local History Alliance (OLHA)

2009

  • History Outreach Excellence Award from the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums (OAHSM) for Morgan Street Bridge Project Restoration.
  • Chemical Breakthrough Award from the American Chemical Society's Division of the History of Chemistry.
  • Preserve America Steward designation from the United States Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.

2008

  • History Outreach Excellence Award from the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums (OAHSM)  for "Black Indians: A Hidden Heritage."

2007

  • Individual Achievement Awards from OAHSM for Mary Anne Cunningham, Assistant to the Director, and Prue Richards, Collections Assistant.

2006

  • Outstanding Individual Achievement Awards from OAHSM for Pat and Dick Holsworth, Oberlin Heritage Center Financial Assistant and volunteer.
  • Oberlin Heritage Center selected as part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Partner Places program.
  • Pat Murphy named Oberlinian of the Year by the Oberlin News-Tribune.

2005

  • Accredited by the American Association of Museums.
  • History Outreach Excellence Award from OAHSM for "Investing in the Community: The History of the Nord Family of Ohio."
